The phone uses the 2.4ghz WLAN frequency to communicate with the base station.The practical effect of this is that the range of the phone in limited to about 10 metres from the base station indoors.The range is not as impressive as standard DECT devices. The base has a handy built in speakerphone meaning that you dont even have to bother picking the phone up to take advantage of cordless VoIP calls.
While the phone is compatible with service providers other than Skype our main criticism would be that this compatibility in most cases does not extend to the phone keypad essentially rendering it only a microphone and headset when used with services other than Skype.
Another slight niggle is that the 2.4Ghz frequency usage leaves the phone a little low on range compared with DECT devices.
In conclusion, those minor niggles aside, the phone is about as well feature as you can get for the price and few will find it a dissapointing purchase.
